SU-2300 Line Fastener Product Selector

SU-2300 Line Fasteners are designed for aircraft use and are specified on external access panels and internal equipment.

They are also specified on demanding non-aircraft applications, where their special qualities of vibration endurance and limited sheet separation under overload are needed, or where an enclosed or floating receptacle is required.

SU-2300 Line Fasteners are approved under MIL-F-5591C* for all sizes, sizes 2, 5, and 7, all stud types, types 1, 2, and 3, Class A floating and Class B rigid receptacles, and for the installation holes and stud retainers covered by styles 1 and 2.

SU-2300 Line studs are made of a higher-tensile alloy steel than ST-1200 Line studs. Also, they are available in .030" increments which reduces the extent of sheet separation in case of tensile overload.

3. Select a stud retainer:

The following retainers are available but cannot be sized by this program. Please call for assistance in sizing using these retainers.

  • Retaining Spring (1219-24): Holds the stud in the locking position for alignment with the receptacle.
  • Full Grommets (1271, 1276): Sizes 5 and 6. Prevents panel hole wear, protects the panel finish, and reduces stud play.

4. Select a receptacle type:

Choose either a rigid or a floating receptacle. SU-2300 receptacles are enclosed to protect the parts, prevent the loss of plating chips and to provide a smooth stud entry.

5. Select an appropriate finish.

6. Now determine the Panel, Gap, and Support thicknesses.

Now determine the thickness of material in which the stud is retained (panel) and to which the receptacle is attached (support). Then determine the total gap between the level of stud head contact with material and the level of receptacle contact, in the closed position, include any air gaps and any part of the stud retainer thickness not buried in material already measured. Refer to the examples on each receptacle page, which will guide you to the length selection table.
