2. For countersunk panels: Follow Steps 2 and 3 for Oval/Hex Head Stud.

For Dimpled Panels: insert stud and slip grommet over thread end.

3. Clinch grommet

Add size number to complete tool callout. I.e., 3, 4, or 5.

Flush Head Stud Tooling
  • If the panel is dimpled, the 9916-1-6-Hxxx-BB is used to flatten the grommet against the panel while a Flat Surface Plate supports the stud and panel.
  • If the panel is countersunk, a 9916-5-1xxx-BB is used to flatten the grommet against the panel while a Flat Surface Plate supports the stud and panel.

Oval / Hex Head

1. Drill hole in panel

A 9916-5-1xxx-BB is used to flatten the grommet against the panel while a 9902-1-1xxx-BB is used to support the stud and panel. A 9916-5-1xxx-BB is used to flatten the grommet against the panel while a Flat Surface Plate supports the stud.

Add size number to complete tool callout. I.e., 3, 4, or 5.

Retaining Ring

1. Drill hole in panel

2. Insert stud and slip retaining ring over shank of stud.
